Uniformly Damped Binomial Filters: Five-percent Maximum Overshoot Optimal Response Design

چکیده

In this paper, the five-percent maximum overshoot design of uniformly-damped binomial filters (transfer-functions) is introduced. First, butterworth filter response represented as a damped-binomial response. To extend maximum-overshoot second-order to higher orders, theorem extended theorem. It shown that compromise between and standard filter, with respect filter-approximation problem in time frequency domain. Finally, paper concludes applications interest, such step-tracking, where both strong filtering fast, smooth transient-response, negligible are desired, normalized form candidate replacement for forms.

Binomial filters

Binomial filters are simple and efficient structures based on the binomial coefficients for implementing Gaussian filtering. They do not require multipliers and can therefore be implemented efficiently in programmable hardware. There are many possible variations of the basic binomial filter structure, and they provide a wide range of space-time trade-offs; a number of these designs have been ca...

Optimal Design of Frequency-Response-Masking Filters Using Semidefinite Programming

Since Lim’s 1986 paper on the frequency-responsemasking (FRM) technique for the design of finite-impulse response digital filters with very small transition widths, the analysis and design of FRM filters has been a subject of study. In this paper, a new optimization technique for the design of various FRM filters is proposed. Central to the new design method is a sequence of linear updates for ...

Design and responses of Butterworth and critically damped digital filters.

For many years the Butterworth lowpass filter has been used to smooth many kinds of biomechanical data, despite the fact that it is underdamped and therefore overshoots and/or undershoots data during rapid transitions. A comparison of the conventional Butterworth filter with a critically damped filter shows that the critically damped filter not only removes the undershooting and overshooting, b...

Direct design of optimal filters from data

In the literature on filter design, the system whose state has to be estimated is usually assumed known. However, in most practical situations, this assumption does not hold, and a two-step procedure is adopted: 1) a model is identified from a set of noise-corrupted data; 2) on the basis of the identified model, a Kalman filter is designed. In this paper, the idea of directly identifying the fi...

Optimal Design of Fractional Delay Filters

Fractional delay filters are those that are designed to delay the input signals by a fractional amount of the sampling time. They are widely used in digital communications, speech processing, digital modeling of musical instruments, etc. Since the delay is fractional, the intersample behavior of input signals become crucial. While the conventional design bases itself on the full band-limiting a...
